Bootfitter's Notes
The Hawx Prime XTD 120 BOA shares the same shell, walk mode, and hybrid design as the 130, giving you one of the best downhill-performing alpine touring boots on the market. The addition of the lower Shell BOA creates a more even wrap across the forefoot and instep, improving fit and making on-the-fly adjustments quick and easy without changing the way the boot skis.
Compared to the 130, the biggest differences are the flex and liner. The 120 features a slightly softer, more progressive flex that's easier to access and a plusher liner that feels more comfortable right out of the box. It still offers excellent heel hold and downhill support, but with a bit more forgiveness for long resort days and extended tours.
The fit remains true to size on a 100 mm last. The heel pocket is secure and performance oriented, while the instep is more generous than many competing hybrid boots. The toe box is slightly more tapered than options like the Nordica Unlimited or Tecnica Cochise, so skiers with particularly wide forefeet may want to plan on a little shell molding.
Like the 130, both the shell and liner are fully heat moldable with Atomic's Memory Fit process, making it straightforward for a bootfitter to dial in the fit.
For skiers who want one boot to do everything but don't need the uncompromising stiffness of a 130, the Hawx Prime XTD 120 BOA is the sweet spot in the lineup. It delivers impressive downhill performance, excellent touring capability, and enough comfort to make long days in the mountains easy.
