Bootfitter's Notes

The Hawx Prime XTD 130 has earned a reputation as one of the best all-around hybrid boots available. For this generation, Atomic adds a lower Shell BOA, but don't expect it to change the way the boot skis. The downhill performance that made the XTD so popular remains unchanged. What the BOA does improve is the way the shell wraps the forefoot and instep, creating a more even fit with easier micro-adjustments throughout the day.

On the descent, the XTD 130 feels remarkably close to a dedicated alpine boot. The 130 flex has enough support to confidently drive everything from lightweight touring skis to wide, metal-laminate all-mountain skis. At the same time, its lighter construction and efficient walk mode make long climbs far less taxing than skiing in a traditional alpine boot.

Fit-wise, the Hawx Prime XTD is built around a true 100 mm last and runs true to size. The heel pocket is firm and performance-oriented, while the instep is more generous than many boots in this category, especially with the addition of the BOA closure. The toe box is a bit more tapered than competitors like the Nordica Unlimited or Tecnica Cochise, so skiers with wider forefeet may notice more pressure around the big toe and pinky toe before molding.

Both the shell and liner are fully heat moldable using Atomic's Memory Fit process, making it easy for a bootfitter to customize the fit. If you have average-width feet and are looking for a boot that can confidently handle resort laps one day and backcountry tours the next, the Hawx Prime XTD 130 BOA continues to be one of the strongest choices in the hybrid category.
