BOOTFITTER'S NOTES
The Burton Waverange X is the latest refinement of what Burton has learned from its most tried and true models.
The biggest improvements aren't necessarily flashy, but they make a difference for your riding and comfort.
Fit is where the Waverange X sees the most upgrades compared to previous models in this category focused on a well rounded, medium flex option.
The addition of Burton's Internal Ankle Hammock does an outstanding job locking your heel into place without forcing you to crank the BOA tighter than necessary. Less heel movement means better control, less fatigue, and fewer distractions when you're riding.
Burton also added a new liner, and it's one of our favorite changes. The new Asym Imprint 3 liner wraps the foot and lower leg much more naturally than a traditional tongue-style liner. Instead of creating pressure where the tongue folds over your foot, it conforms more evenly around your ankle and shin, creating a smoother, more consistent fit that only gets better after heat molding.
The overall shape inside the boot strikes a really nice balance. The heel and ankle feel snug and secure, while the forefoot remains neutral enough that your toes don't feel cramped after a full day on the mountain. It's a performance fit designed around the foot shape most riders actually have.
On snow, the Waverange X offers the kind of support that works for just about everything. It has enough strength to feel solid through a fast turn or technical section, but plenty of give to take some leisurely laps or get comfortable in new terrain.
If you're coming from a Photon, you'll immediately notice the improved heel hold and the way the new liner wraps your foot. They're subtle updates on paper, but meaningful ones once you're actually riding.
This is Burton's newest boot for the masses. The fit is great, the performance is solid, and the overall package will have a lot of riders very well covered for all kinds of riding.
