Bootfitter's Notes

Despite the similar name, the Mach BOA 120 is not a Mach1. It shares Tecnica's performance heritage, but it's built with comfort as the priority. Compared to the Mach1 HV 120, the Mach BOA has a more forgiving liner, does not use Tecnica's CAS liner, and feels noticeably roomier throughout the boot—even though both are technically listed as 103 mm lasts.

The fit is generous in every dimension. The forefoot is on the wider side of the stated 103 mm last, there's ample room over the instep for higher arches, the heel is secure without feeling restrictive, and the cuff easily accommodates larger or more athletic calves. If you've struggled with pressure points in traditional performance boots, this is one of the first models we'd have you try.

The lower Shell BOA provides an even wrap across the forefoot and instep, helping eliminate pressure points while improving foot hold compared to traditional buckles. Tecnica also includes Double Quick Instep construction and Lift-Lock buckles, making the boot exceptionally easy to get on and off—something many high-volume skiers will appreciate.

The liner is intentionally thinner and more forgiving than the Mach1 series, allowing the boot to feel even more spacious without becoming sloppy. It still provides enough support to confidently steer skis, but comfort is clearly the priority.

On snow, the 120 flex delivers plenty of support for strong intermediate and advanced skiers while remaining smooth and approachable. It has enough backbone to drive modern all-mountain skis but never feels overly demanding or punishing.

The shell is also one of the easiest boots on the market to modify, making it an excellent choice for skiers with sensitive feet or those who frequently require bootfitting work.

If you have a wider foot, higher instep, or simply value comfort above all else, the Mach BOA 120 is one of the most accommodating performance boots available. It offers impressive skiing performance without the tight, race-inspired fit of the Mach1 family.
